A Prayer for the Family

by Francis MacNutt

Lord Jesus, I ask you to touch and bless all the members of my family. Pour out your life, your love and your joy upon each and every one of us. Protect my family from all harm – physical, spiritual and emotional. Send your Holy angels to be with us as we go through the day.

Forgive me if I have rashly judged any member of my family. Replace my judgment with compassion and understanding. If any family member has hurt me, help me to forgive them with love and compassion. If I need to say something to someone by way of correction, please show me how to do it so that it leads to healing and a better relationship. Give me the grace to listen calmly to any corrections directed at me.

Show me the blessings that have come to me through my family, and give me the love and humility to pray for them as often as possible.

Thank you, Heavenly Father, for my family. Immerse us with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Fill our minds with Your light; fill our bodies with Your health; fill our wills with Your guidance; fill our hearts with Your compassion; and above all, fill us with Your own love for people, and for Your creation.

Make us like Jesus in every possible way.

Amen.
